Marine farming has expanded rapidly in Tasmania since the 1990s and is now one of the State's major industries. Other secondary industries have also grown up around marine farming, creating additional economic and employment benefits for the State.

The marine farming industry is regulated by the DPIPWE.

DPIPWE prepares marine farming development plans for key marine farming areas around the State.

Applications for marine farming plans, licences and leases.
Marine Farming: Benthic Mornitoring 1997 - 2002
Details the environmental status of marine farming leases 1997-2002 based on an ongoing benthic monitoring program conducted across MFDP Areas.
