Wine Industry

Producers in Tasmania concentrate on the growing and making of table wines of high quality. Production is concentrated on two varieties well suited to the State's climate, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which are made into wine styles that are high in demand throughout the world. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sparkling wines are produced in a number of areas. Cabernet Sauvignon table wines are produced in warmer sites and other varieties such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Traminer are also grown in a number of areas.
