Foxes in Tasmania

Register now for invasive species updates

Physical evidence collected since 2000 indicates that an unknown number of European red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) have recently been present in Tasmania. Foxes represent one of the greatest threats to Tasmania's wildlife, agriculture, tourism and economy. Foxes are an intelligent, elusive and deadly predator that are recognised as the single most devastating invasive species and threat to Australia's native wildlife. It would be an unmitigated disaster if they were allowed to establish in Tasmania.

Not wanted! It is vitally important that all members of the public immediately report fox sightings or any possible evidence of fox activity to the 24-hour fox hotline: 1300 FOX OUT (1300 369 688)
