Fish for the Future

Child's artwork for a poster on fish for the future including colourful fish drawings and text.Fish for the Future describes the aims of the Department. We all need to look after our fisheries and fish habitats so that there will be fish in the sea for many years to come:
  • Fish forever - for our children and their children's children.
  • Fish for commercial purposes - for jobs and wealth for Tasmanians.
  • Fish for food.
  • Fish for fun and recreation.
  • And fish just to enjoy!
Fish safely and responsibly so we can have fish for the future.

Fish For The Future

Fish in the rivers
Fish in the sea
Fish for the Future
That's how it should be

Some fish are thin
Some fish are fat
Fish for the Future
You can't beat that.

Fish in the lakes
Fish in the pond
Fish for the future
You can't go wrong.

Some fish eat worms
Some like eating man
Fish for the future
Fry 'em in a pan.

Some are called mullet
Some are called trout
Fish for the future
Hook another out.

Tidy up the lines
And put away the gear
We need fish for the future
For many many years.

Joe the fisherman (cartoon character in a sinking dinghy filled with fish).
