Fishcare Tasmania

Fishcare logoFishcare volunteers are enthusiastic individuals who give up their time in order to help members of the recreational fishing community with good fishing practices and provide advice about Rules and Regulations.

There are currently 100 Fishcare volunteers working around Tasmania to improve your recreational fishing experience and to help make sure that there are fish for the future.

Code of Practice

  • Fishcare volunteers abide by all fisheries regulations and not have any prior convictions pertaining to fisheries offences.
  • Fishcare volunteers will not undertake any law enforcement function.
  • Fishcare volunteers are willing to commit their time and effort to structured education and various programs coordinated by the Department.
  • Fishcare Volunteers promote community awareness and understanding of recreational fishing rules and ethics.
Fishcare display and volunteerYou might see Fishcare volunteers on patrol at local fishing spots, educating school groups or manning one of our Fishcare Trailers at events such as AGFEST or boat shows. They also conduct Take a Kid Fishing days around the State.

Fishcare volunteers are well versed in the rules and regulations relating to recreational fishing and will be more than happy to answer any queries you may have. So, next time you see the distinctive blue and gold Fishcare uniform, have a question answered or just have a chat with your local Fishcare volunteer.

There are Fishcare volunteer groups in the South, North and Northwest. A part time regional coordinator, together with a senior support volunteer, coordinates each of these groups.
