Marine reserves are legally managed areas of sea dedicated to the protection and maintenance of biological diversity and natural and cultural resources. Follow these links to information on Tasmania's marine reserves, including maps of the areas.

Displacement Assessment Process
During the development of the Tasmanian Marine Protected Areas Strategy, the issue of displacement and compensation was considered. The subsequent Displacement Assessment Process was approved by Primary Industries Minister David Llewellyn in October 2007.

Those individuals who may be affected by the declaration of Marine Protected Areas should therefore read this policy which sets out the process for providing adjustment assistance. The document can be downloaded from the link below.
