Tasmanian Marine Protected Areas Strategy

The Marine Protected Areas Strategy was developed through an extensive period of consultation.

A draft strategy was released for public comment attracting more than a thousand submissions. The strategy was refined in the light of the comments. The Government then signed off on a strategy for establishing a system of Marine Protected Areas in Tasmania - the Tasmanian Marine Protected Areas Strategy.

To assist with the preparation of the strategy the Department, in conjunction with the Marine and Marine Industries Council, prepared a Background Report.
