The Draft South Esk River Catchment Water Management Plan has been prepared under the Water Management Act 1999.

The Draft Plan was prepared by the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment with the advice of a number of representatives of different stakeholder groups in the South Esk catchment. The purpose of the Plan is to provide a framework for managing the catchment's water resources in accordance with the objectives of the Water Management Act 1999.

The Plan area is the South Esk River catchment above the confluence with the Macquarie River, including the Nile River catchment, the St Pauls River catchment and the Break O'Day River catchment.

The period for making representations will extend until 11 December 2009.

Two public meetings to discuss the draft Plan have been scheduled for Wednesday 21 October 2009 at the following venues and times:
  • 1 pm at the Fingal Neighbourhood House, 20 Talbot Street, Fingal
  • 7 pm at the Longford RSL Club rooms, 78 Wellington Street, Longford
