Regional Water Management Officers

The Regions

Tasmania is divided into eight water management regions, with major offices in Hobart, Prospect, Devonport and Elliott.
Licensing administration and support is provided by the Hobart office.

The Department's activities in each region includes:
  • Technical support for and assessment of applications for water licences and dam permits
  • Managing flows in rivers and streams
  • Provision of information on water resource matters in regional areas
  • Compliance monitoring and enforcement

Regional Water Management Officers

Each region is supported by a Regional Water Management Officer (RWMO) who can provide advice on farm dams and water allocation issues. The RWMOs, assisted by Water Rangers, are also responsible for ensuring compliance with licensing conditions.
