Water Management PlansThe Water Management Act 1999 provides for the development of Water Management Plans. Water Management Plans are developed in consultation with stakeholders to ensure the sustainable development and management of a water resource.
A Water Management Plan is generally implemented by the Department of Primary Industries and Water. However, the Minister for Primary Industries and Water may approve an application by a Water Entity to take over the implementation of the Plan.
Standard Operating Procedures for the Development of Statutory Water Management Plans in Tasmania have been developed to assist current and new water management planners.
Generic Principles for Water Management Planning have been developed to assist stakeholders to better understand the water management planning process.
