Land Titles OfficeThe Recorder of Titles is the statutory officer responsible for providing the community with certainty of title to land. This is achieved by the development and administration of legislation governing land dealings in Tasmania. The Torrens title system provides people, commerce and industry with significant economic advantages when dealing with land.
The Recorder of Titles is a data custodian under the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 and as such is required to provide a personal information protection statement when collecting personal information not exempt under that Act. A circular containing the statement can be found at Office Circular 4/2005.
